Last Saturday Nov.28 was Saraswati Ceremony. At the ceremony there was a lot of balinese dancing. I was one of those balinese dancers. I preformed a dance called Pendet. This is the whole story:
Sofia and I arrived at school at 6:10.(We were having a sleep over.)Sofia goes to balinese dance too. We got our makeup on, which was mostly the primary colors and a face full of blush, and got our hair done. We wore a huge golden crown that had a big rose in the middle and 5 Frangipani flowers on the side. Balinese dancers wear huge earrings that are really fat. We wore sleeveless sarongs and a pink sash.
When we were preparing for Saraswati, we also practiced with dancers that are prefoming Rejang. Rejang is the dance that opens the ceremony. The Rejang dance is the opening performance for Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge. For this dance you have to wear white and yellow, the Holy colors.
After Rejang’s opening was my dance, Pendet. We worked so hard it felt great to be finally preforming! I loved that at the end when we were done, there was a huge round of applause!
